Sports Tourism

Sport Tourism is one of the main contributors to the economic growth of South Africa. In 2012 South Africa was voted the sport tourism country of the year due to its hard work and commitment to creating SA as a world-class sport and events destination. South Africa offers a unique tourism opportunity both for sport and business, because of its geographical location and favourable weather conditions.

Whilst this is applaudable the need to assess the environmental impact of sport tourism through understanding the ecological footprint and environmental input-output of sports tourists has become imperative.
